Hmm, looks like a certain author wanted to stay away from certain topics. Gore and violence galore, but homosexuality is something extremely off-limits in the Animorphs series.

I always saw this more as a jab at Marco than anything. I mean, I honestly think that’s how this was intended, rather than homophobia on the part of K.A. Considering in the series, Marco is the only one who really refers to himself as cute, I can see that he was probably the one who told Ax that he was cute to begin with. So when Ax didn’t agree, it just making fun of Marco, you know?
