Cosmonautsharking: Two non-offensive alternatives to the term "spirit animal"
- Daemon - The only one you’re appropriating is Pullman and by appropriating Pullman you’re upsetting no-one, save possibly the Pope.
- Patronus - Wizards everywhere are more than willing to lend you this term and the geekiness is an added bonus. I just…
Hi, just want to put this on my blog. This has nothing to do with anything, but I saw it on my dash and…
I just wanted to say that for me, this is kinda bullshit. Being Native, watching others walk on eggshells trying not to be ‘offensive’ kind of is offensive. I mean, honestly. Saying something is your spirit animal? What’s wrong with that? I hate how when everyone is trying so damn hard to be PC they lose sight of how awesome Natives are.
We make jokes like this all the time ourselves, okay? In fact, there’s a lot of things we ignore about being politically correct. Go on any reserve anywhere and refer to the people there as “Native American” or “First Nations”, I dare you. Most people call themselves “Indian” and are proud of it.
I guess it just annoys me how people can take a simple joke and turn it into some sort of political debate, like they know how we feel about things. Sure, someone might take offence, but those people will be very hard to find, I guarentee. So go on referring to characters as your “spirit animal”, and know that there’s nothing offensive about it, okay?
